Oh, Canada!

Today we applied for Mattias’ Canadian passport and if this process is any indication of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, Canada is gonna kick butt with Sweden coming in a close second and the US… well, they might not show up until 2012. We were really anxious to get A (it didn’t really matter which one) passport before we travel to Sweden for the holidays. It turns out that it takes about 6 weeks to get a Canadian one, 8 weeks to get a Swedish one and I can’t even get an appointment to apply for part of the paperwork for the American one until January 15, 2008.

I wish there was a “behind the scenes” look at taking this picture. As you can sort of see once you put something in Mattias’ hands he’ll try to get it to his mouth.

What happened to two weeks? I liked that a lot better – six weeks seems awfully close to departure date!

But at least he’ll have a passport – I guess that means each one of you have to go through a different line at the customs/immigration check point :)

Härliga bilder. Längtar massor efter er alla. Om Mattias inte får något pass kommer jag över till er.

Well, here’s how it works. The passport is guaranteed to be here by December 7th. If I wanted it sooner then I would have had to wait in a longer line. As it was it only took about 45 mins. If you want to expedite the passport you can get it the same day in Canada for $80.. when it only costs $22. So, I figured since we didn’t actually NEED it until Dec 20th then Dec 7th would work fine.
