We celebrated the 4th at a coworker’s house (she’s a fellow American). Mattias spent several hours pretending to be a fireman – spraying the hose at the bushes.

Fireman Mattias
Then on Sunday we went out to Rönninge for some bbq – my dad’s recipe. Delicious!

mmm ribs
Mattias had fun playing in the water and with his dad.

On June 27th I took Mattias to lill-jans forest and we had a blast getting dirty, “fishing” with sticks and climbing trees. What a monkey.

Mattias would love camping… maybe next year.

We went to Skansen on June 24th and splurged to go to the aquarium where we saw crocodiles, sharks and monkeys. Above you’ll see Fredrik and Mattias with the lemurs. Of course no trip to Skansen is complete without going on one of the rides — this time the airplane. It’s too bad I don’t have a video of Mattias’ first try at the bumper cars. I think he might have whiplash. yikes!
It’s amazing how what children dream about is often a nightmare for parents. On June 13 I took Mattias to Andy’s with a friend and her 3 children. It was crazy! The children loved it… they could run around in special passages created just for them and get in to a lot of trouble before any of us could figure out how to catch up with them. Here is the one picture I managed to take – most of the time I was just running behind Mattias. The idea was to wear the kids out but Susanne (the other mom) and I were exhausted!

Maybe we’ll try again when Mattias is older – like 18 or something.
On June 4th Mattias’ school (Barnens Montessori Akademi) held their graduation ceremony in the park with the church close behind. They sang a lot of songs (videos to come) and celebrated the graduates who will go on to proper school in the fall. The little ones – Mattias included – spent a lot of time running between teachers and parents.

We also said farewell to Mattias’ favorite teacher who planned to leave for another school only to find out that she will be back in the fall. Yahoo!
It was an all American BBQ for Fredrik’s birthday – his request of course! BBQed pulled pork, baked beans, salads, chips…and much more. He went all Swedish for dessert with brittatårta. Mmmm!

Mattias’ friend had a birthday party – Mattias’ first non-relative birthday on May 22nd. Quite ambitious if you ask me – inviting fifteen 2 and 3 year olds for a party! Thankfully we had nice weather.

Saying bye is never easy to do… here’s the view from our apartment window of them going back to the hotel before leaving early May 19th. Come back soon!

Walking through the old farm buildings.

Some adorable 2 day old moose.

Overlooking Gärdet and the Lynch’s hotel.

The bears!
Jenny and Jax weren’t sure what all the Pippi fuss was about so we took them to Junibacken (one of Mattias’ favorite places in the world).

Here they are outside Pettson and Findus’ house.
