Mattias celebrating my birthday
I had a great birthday yesterday thanks in part to all the well wishes I received but mostly due to the fact that we had a babysitter. Fredrik and I were able to go watch the Vancouver Canucks (national hockey team) beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-1. It isn’t often (almost never) that we get to go out just the two of us.
On another note Mattias and I got to ride in an ambulance for the first time this morning (around 3am). WE ARE ALL FINE Mattias hadn’t been feeling so great yesterday (we almost didn’t go to the game) but he perked up and seemed to be fine while we were gone. Yesterday night around 10 I noticed that Mattias was quite warm but I didn’t think too much of it. Around 12.30am he was super hot and I gave him some tylenol (alvedon) but by 3 things hadn’t gotten better. He still had a fever of 103.5°F (39.7°C) and nothing was improving. He started shaking which I interpreted as shivering so I covered him up with a blanket (which I probably shouldn’t have done). We rang the nurses’ hotline (vårdguiden) and they asked asked us a bunch of questions and said that it was “imperitave that we call 911.” They were most concerned that we had trouble waking Mattias – he was in a state with his eyes open but not responsive… in hindsite it may have just been that it was 3am! Anyways. The paramedics (ambulansen) came and we went to the hospital with Fredrik following behind in the car. We offered to drive ourselves but the paramedics said we should go with them. They admitted us and gave Mattias more tylenol. After waiting until nearly 7 we still hadn’t seen a doctor and there were many people ahead of us. Mattias’s fever began to break so I figured that he would have a better chance of feeling better at home. Right now he is sleeping and doesn’t feel warm at all! Yippee! I will (of course) keep an eye on him and let you know if things change BUT he seems to be doing much better!
Who knew that there were all these extra responsibilities once you turn 27!
Riding in the truck – a favorite
Watching a movie with the gang
Playing in the snow
Det blev en händelserik födelsedag. Hoppas verkligen Mattias kryar på sig, men jag vet att du håller oss uppdaterad med hans hälsa. Massor av kramar från Farmor och Hans
I’m glad to hear you were able to do something fun for your birthday!
Mattias certainly likes adventure! An ambulance ride before his second birthday. That isn’t something everyone gets to experience. I’m so glad he’s doing better.
